Nezzie McManus Allen, 97, died Thursday (Jan. 4, 2007) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born May 27, 1909, in Chesterfield County, S.C., Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late James Alexander and Mary Rollins McManus.

She retired from the Washcloth Department in Cannon Mills, where she was an inspector, and was a member of Centerview Baptist Church for more than 50 years.

Her husband, David Preston Allen, died Jan. 3, 1975.

Survivors include daughters Ramona A. Woods, Kannapolis, and Voncille A. Randolph, Wilmington; sister Rettie Price, Lancaster, S.C.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A service was held Sunday (Jan. 7, 2007) at Centerview Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Willie Rash. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Lady’s Funeral Home was in charge.
