Bridge Lessons

School is in session for our children, so it’s time for adults to consider classes too. It’s never too late to learn. Bridge classes taught by Harold and Carol Winecoff begin again on Sept. 16 at Rufty-Holmes Senior Center. The first three weeks of instruction focus on a basic review of the standard game. The next five weeks delve into NT openings and the many responses to them. We all believe we know these but there are many levels to each one that most of us don’t know. There is a small fee for each class that includes a notebook and printed material that covers each week’s lesson. You may attend one lesson or all as you can manage. Plan to attend a lesson or two.

Our Friday, Sept. 19 Evergreen game was well attended. We had 7 tables and the competion was lively with many odd hands as usual. Winners were: N/S 1st Carol and Harold Winecoff, 2nd Marie Pugh and Ruth Bowles, 3rd BettyBonner Steele and Rosemary Sokolowski and E/W 1st Pat Featherston and Dick Brisbin, 2nd John and Myrnie McLaughlin, 3rd Genny Mozolak and Joe O’Brien. It was very difficult to find a board to feature as most were bid similarly. Here is the one chosen.

The best N/S score made by Nancy Brandt and Tom Johnson was 4HE*-1 while the best E/W score made by the John McLaughlins’ was 3SS*-2.

Our Tuesday. Sept. 23 Women’s Club game remained very small. We look forward to welcoming our travelers home.
