UMA meeting today
The United Ministerial Alliance will meet at 11 a.m. today at Tower of Power United Holy Church, followed by a community meeting at noon.
Community Day today at First Calvary
First Calvary Baptist Church, 400 S. Long St., will host its annual Community Day Celebration today from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Activities include storytelling, youth praise dance lessons, indoor board and outside field games, lunch and school supply give-a-way.
Annual Youth Day will be observed Sunday, at the 11 a.m. service. The guest speaker will be Dr. Alvin Summers, pastor of college and career students at First Baptist Church in Indian Trail.

Sherrills Ford Road Baptist homecoming
Two days of homecoming celebration services at Sherrills Ford Road Baptist Church, 6455 Sherrills Ford Road, begin today at 6 p.m. with coffee , cake and fellowship. At 7 p.m. the Smokey Mountain Gospel Singers will lead the singing.
Sunday worship is at 10 a.m. with the Smokey Mountain Gospel Singers and at noon, the homecoming meal will be served.

Jim Harnish coming to First Methodist
The Rev. Dr. James A. Harnish will preach at First United Methodist Church of Salisbury, 217 S. Church St., Sunday at both the 8:30 and 11 a.m. worship services. A prolific author, Harnish is one of the denomination’s leading voices. His sermon will focus upon living within God’s grace.
43rd homecoming at Maranatha
Maranatha Bible Church, 2320 Statesville Boulevard, will celebrate God’s faithfulness at its 43rd homecoming on Sunday.
Bruce Woodman (or, as he is known in ministry, Brus del Monte, his Spanish name) will speak at 10 a.m. Under his leadership, Impact International proclaims the Gospel throughout Central and South America with city-wide crusades, television and radio ministries. Homecoming at Milford Hills United Methodist Church is Sunday. The Rev. David Hockett, who was pastor from 2003-2009, will deliver the message at the 10 a.m. service. There will be a covered dish lunch following the service along with a special note burning in the courtyard.

ROCKWELL — On Sunday at 10 a.m., Rockwell United Methodist Church will celebrate homecoming. The Rev. Fred Jordan, adjunct professor of United Methodist Studies at Hood Theological Seminary, will be the guest preacher. A potluck meal following at 11 a.m.
Christian Education day at Ardis Chapel
Ardis Chapel AME Zion Church will observe Christian Education Day on Sunday, with the pastor, the Rev. R. Nathan Bratton, bringing the 10 a.m. message. Lunch is served at 1:30 p.m.
The Rev. Trishaun Kendell, pastor of St. Matthews AME Zion Church in Rock Hill, S.C., will be the guest preacher for the homecoming service at 3 p.m.
Revival services are Monday through Wednesday, Sept. 19-21, with the Rev. James Milton II, pastor of Pleasant Grove AME Zion Church in Concord, as guest preacher each night. Praise and worship starts at 7 p.m. each night.

KANNAPOLIS (Enochville) — The 181st homecoming celebration at St. Enoch Lutheran Church is Sunday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Grady Beaver as guest speaker.

CHINA GROVE — First United Methodist China Grove will observe homecoming worship and fellowship on Sunday with guest speaker Sarah Langford Stephens. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with special music provided by the church’s music ministries, and followed by a covered dish meal afterward, in the fellowship hall.

Revival at Landis First Assembly
LANDIS — Revival services with Prophet/Evangelist Donald Moore of Charlotte are scheduled at Landis First Assembly, 302 E. Corriher St., on Sunday at both the morning (10:30 a.m.) and evening (6 p.m.) services.
Moore is an Assemblies of God evangelist who founded and leads Steps to Victory Ministries, and is a plain-spoken preacher of the Word. Host pastor is Bill Coughlin.

Speaker at First Presbyterian Salisbury
On Sunday, First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury will welcome the Rev. Dr. Barry Sang. Dr. Sang will be preaching at all three worship services (sanctuary at 8:30 and 11 a.m., Lewis Hall at 8:50 a.m.). The Bell Tower Ringers will present special music during the 8:30 and 11 a.m. worship services.
Dr. Sang is professor of religion, chair of the religion and philosophy department, and accreditation liaison at Catawba College where he has taught since 1985.
He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Carroll College in Wisconsin, a master of divinity degree from Colgate Rochester Theological Seminary in New York state, and a masters of philosophy and doctorate of philosophy in Biblical studies from Drew University in New Jersey.
Dr. Sang’s textbook in Old Testament studies was recently published.

Moss at John Calvin Presbyterian
The Rev. Steve Moss will be preaching at the 11 a.m. service at John Calvin Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) this Sunday and the next, Sept. 25. Rev. Moss is a retired minister from Thyatira Presbyterian Church.

GLS welcomes Blankenship as new pastor
CHINA GROVE — Gospel Light Church, 435 Concordia church Road, announces the Rev. Clarence Leroy Blankenship II as its new senior pastor. Blankenship became pastor of the church on Sept. 11. He has been been serving as associate pastor for the last year.
There will be an official installation service at the 11 a.m. service on Sunday, followed by a covered dish luncheon.
Pastor Blankenship lives in Mooresville with with wife Karri, daughter Abby and sons Zack and Dakota.

Volunteers welcome at hunger event at Providence UMC
Providence United Methodist Church and Providence AME Zion are hosting a Stop Hunger Now event Saturday, Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. at Providence UMC, 6450 Bringle Ferry Road. Volunteers will be packaging 10,152 meals to be shipped around the world to school feeding programs and crisis relief. All volunteers are welcome.
