UMA meeting today

The United Ministerial Alliance will meet at 11 a.m. today at Tower of Power United Holy Church, followed by a community meeting at noon.

Community Day today at First Calvary 

First Calvary Baptist Church, 400 S. Long St., will host its annual Community Day Celebration today from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Activities include storytelling, youth praise dance lessons, indoor board and outside field games, lunch and school supply give-a-way.

Annual Youth Day will be observed Sunday, at the 11 a.m. service. The guest speaker will be Dr. Alvin Summers, pastor of college and career students at First Baptist Church in Indian Trail.

Two days of homecoming celebration services at Sherrills Ford Road Baptist Church, 6455 Sherrills Ford Road, begin today at 6 p.m. with coffee , cake and fellowship. At 7 p.m. the Smokey Mountain Gospel Singers will lead the singing.

43rd homecoming  at Maranatha

Maranatha Bible Church, 2320 Statesville Boulevard, will celebrate God’s faithfulness at its 43rd homecoming on Sunday.

Christian Education day at Ardis Chapel

Ardis Chapel AME Zion Church will observe Christian Education Day on Sunday, with the pastor, the Rev. R. Nathan Bratton, bringing the 10 a.m. message. Lunch is served at 1:30 p.m.

LANDIS — Revival services with Prophet/Evangelist Donald Moore of Charlotte are scheduled at Landis First Assembly, 302 E. Corriher St., on Sunday at both the morning (10:30 a.m.) and evening (6 p.m.) services.

Speaker at First Presbyterian Salisbury 

On Sunday, First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury will welcome the Rev. Dr. Barry Sang. Dr. Sang will be preaching at all three worship services (sanctuary at 8:30 and 11 a.m., Lewis Hall at 8:50 a.m.). The Bell Tower Ringers will present special music during the 8:30 and 11 a.m. worship services.

Dr. Sang is professor of religion, chair of the religion and philosophy department, and accreditation liaison at Catawba College where he has taught since 1985.

He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Carroll College in Wisconsin, a master of divinity degree from Colgate Rochester Theological Seminary in New York state, and a masters of philosophy and doctorate of philosophy in Biblical studies from Drew University in New Jersey.

Dr. Sang’s textbook in Old Testament studies was recently published.

GLS welcomes Blankenship as new pastor

CHINA GROVE — Gospel Light Church, 435 Concordia church Road, announces the Rev. Clarence Leroy Blankenship II as its new senior pastor. Blankenship became pastor of the church on Sept. 11. He has been been serving as associate pastor for the last year.

There will be an official installation service at the 11 a.m. service on Sunday, followed by a covered dish luncheon.

Pastor Blankenship lives in Mooresville with with wife Karri, daughter Abby and sons Zack and Dakota.
