Update: According to Duke Energy’s outage map, just one customer remains without power along the South Salisbury Avenue-North Main Steet area where a tree or trees fell last night.

The estimate is that power will be fully restored by 2:30 p.m.

 

Around 700 Duke Energy customers are without power due to a tree falling across North Main Street.

The road is blocked at 16th Street for a couple of blocks with multiple utility and tree trucks. A flashing arrow directs drivers to a left turn onto 16th Street. From there, drivers will turn right onto Lee Street, and then can return to Main around 14th Street.

Power is also out in Spencer on South Salisbury Avenue, but it appeared Magnolia Gardens was running on a generator. The downtown Spencer area has power.

The traffic lights are out at the intersection of North Main and 11th Street and at North Main and Church Street. The outage appears to affect the southbound side of North Main up through Richard’s Barbecue. Some lights were on across the street, but most of the street lights were also out.

According to the outage report at http://outagemap.duke-energy.com/, the power went out about 9:51 p.m. Monday, just after a strong storm moved through. There is no estimated time for restoration at this point.
