EAST SPENCER — Fashions for men and women will face off in a fashion show to benefit local youth on Saturday.

Emeka Event Planning and VanZant & Co. will present The Fashion Battle of the Gods and Goddesses 2016 Fashion Show at The Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Convention Center at 308 Boundary St. starting at 7 p.m.

The show will feature local designers and models, and vendors will be selling clothes, jewelry, pocket books and Italian ice. Along with showcasing local talent, the event will spotlight entrepreneurs.

The proceeds from the show will go toward supporting the Save the Youth Foundation. The foundation creates programs, workshops, seminars and other events that “promote positive change among our youth in the Salisbury and surrounding communities,” according to the description of the event.

Chariel Dye, CEO of Emeka Event Planning, said the foundation was created from an idea the Great Women and Men United group developed last year in an effort to help young people. The event planning business was started to raise money to support the group’s efforts.

Tickets will be sold at the door and will cost $10. The fee for vendors is $25.

Gregory VanZant, owner of VanZant & Co., said there will be more events to come to benefit the community.
