Doris Carter Beck

SALISBURY – Doris Carter Beck, 78, of 802 Courtside Drive, Hidden Creek, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at her home.
Born March 27, 1928, in Guilford County, Mrs. Beck was the daughter of the late Eddie Harrison and Ruby Swaim Carter. Educated in the Guilford County and Davie County schools, she had worked for Miller & Rhodes in Richmond, Va., and Oestreicher’s and Belk’s of Salisbury.
Mrs. Beck was a member of First Baptist Church of Spencer and the Joy Sunday School Class.
Her husband, Grimes Baxter Beck, preceded her in death on April 3, 2001, and her son, Grimes Beck Jr., died Oct. 27, 1964.
Survivors include daughter D. Elaine Beck of Salisbury; brother Howard Carter and wife Louise of Spencer; and sister Shirley Swing and husband Clifford of Lexington. She is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at Summersett Funeral Home; and at other times, the family will be at her home.
Service: The graveside service will be at 2: p.m. Sunday at Rowan Memorial Park. The Rev. Franklin Myers will officiate.
