Frances F. Safrit

Frances Christine Farrell Safrit, 80, died Jan. 16, 2007, at her home, after a year of declining health and four months of serious illness.
Born Dec. 9, 1926, in Rowan County, Mrs. Safrit was a daughter of the late Martin Gamewell and Bessie Lee Christy Farrell.
She was a member of Enochville Church of God for more than 50 years, teaching the Ladies Sunday School Class for years, working with children’s choirs, vacation Bible school, ladies Monday night prayer and adult choir. She sang with many groups, performing as a soloist, at local churches in the area.
She lived at Oakboro Baptist Church Home for the Aged for nine months, attending Big Lick Baptist Church while there.
Her husband of 56 years, Nolan H. Safrit, and infant son David Eugene Safrit preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons William H. Safrit, Kannapolis; James C. Safrit, Concord, and Timothy W. Safrit, Kannapolis; daughters Kay F. Hardy, Kannapolis, Mary A. Huneycutt, Oakboro, and Doris Dudley Smith, Concord; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
A service was held Sunday (Jan. 21, 2007) at Enochville Church of God, conducted by the Rev. David Shoemake, the Rev. Jeff Springer, the Rev. Sonny Waller, the Rev. Jeff Upright, the Rev. Ronnie Cooper and the Rev. Clayton Palmer. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.
Whitley’s Funeral Home was in charge.
