MEBANE — Future UNC Greensboro teammates Nick Lyerly, of Salisbury, and Justin Emmons, of Asheboro, shot a first-round 64 on Friday and lead the 21st North Carolina Four-Ball Championship at Mill Creek Golf Club.
Lyerly and Emmons came into the event as the youngest team, and put on a show, shooting an eight-under par round.
“We came here to win”, Lyerly said when asked how the they felt being the youngest team in the field. Emmons and Lyerly, an East Rowan High School senior, are both committed to play golf at UNC-Greensboro and both are top ranked junior golfers in the state.
