CHINA GROVE—On Sunday, October 16, Homecoming at Immanuel Presbyterian Church will be celebrating the 75^th anniversary of the church. The service will be at 11 am with Dr. John A. Ricks, III bringing the message. Dr. Ricks is the son of the founding pastor, John Ricks, Jr., who founded the church in 1941. John Ricks, III, is Professor Emeritus of History at Middle Georgia State University and holds a B.A. from Davidson College, an M.A. from Tulane University, and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The church was founded when Rev. Ricks was asked by the then Concord Presbytery to found a church in the Five Forks Area near the current location of South Rowan High School. At the time of the founding this was also known as Webber City. The church started by meeting in a vacant automotive garage. A new church building was made ready in 1945. After that the church grew and continued to serve the area.

Dr. Bill Dailey and Eleanor Dailey will be leading special opening music involving the congregation, as well as presenting an anthem and offertory music.

There will be a covered-dish luncheon in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the worship service. We hope that all members both past and present will be able to join us. We would encourage neighbors in the church area to join us. All are welcome.
