Flash flood warning issued for Rowan

Rowan County is under a flash flood warning until 7:15 p.m. as rain from the outer bands of Hurricane Matthew are pounding the area.
At 1:10 p.m., the National Weather Service issued the flash flood warning for Rowan County and eastern Cabarrus. In its advisory, the National Weather Service says up to 3 inches of rain has fallen.
Flash flooding is likely to occur or will begin shortly, the warning states.
Locations that will experience flooding include Kannapolis, downtown Concord, Salisbury, China Grove, Spencer, Landis, Enochville Granite Quarry, Rockwell and Mount Pleasant.
The warning advises motorists not to cross water-covered roadways, bridges or low-level crossings.
Rain is forecasted to continue into this evening.
