Stowe scholarship fund raiser

The George B. Stowe Scholarship fish fry is today at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Caldwell St., from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Crown In Glory Lutheran

Crown In Glory Lutheran Church, 517 E. Bank St. , Continues its 2016 Harvest Home Festival with the dedication of the Wiley Lash Outreach Center, 528 Horah St. at 3 p.m. today.

On Harvest Home Sunday host pastor, Rev. Donald Anthony, will speak at the 9 a.m. service. Lunch will be served from 1-2:30 p.m. The afternoon service begins with a praise service at 3 p.m. followed by the worship service at 3:30 p.m. Rev. Christopher Stout, pastor of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Kannapolis and Abundant Life Lutheran Church, Charlotte will speak. Red Bank Baptist Church Orchestra

The Red Bank Baptist Church Orchestra from Chattanooga, Tenn. will perform at Unity Presbyterian Church, 885 Woodleaf-Barber Road tonight at 7 p.m. The orchestra will also lead the worship service on Sunday at 10 a.m. A covered dish lunch will follow. Bishop and Lady Hash’s anniversary

EAST SPENCER — Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long St., will celebrate Bishop W. Ronald Hash and Lady Lotis Hash’s 24th pastoral anniversary on Sunday. The 10 a.m. speaker will be Pastor Vernon Williams Jr. of Chayah Faithy World Outreach Ministries, Concord.

The speaker for the 5 p.m. service is Bishop J. C. Hash of St. Peter’s Church & World Outreach Center of Winston Salem. He is senior pastor and CEO of the 3,500+ member, multi-cultural St. Peter’s Church and World Outreach Center (SPWOC).

A graduate of Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Okla., Dr. Hash holds a bachelor of theology degree and an honorary doctorate of divinity from Union Christian Bible Institute in Durham.

CHINA GROVE — Sunday at 10 a.m. is the Fourth Sunday Program at Mt. Zion UCC, 1415 S. Main St. Special guest Sgt. C.S. Flowers of the Rowan County Sheriff Department will talk with the combined Sunday school classes about appropriate “do and don’ts” regarding law enforcement and how best to support and respect one another. During the 11 a.m. service the children’s choir will sing. Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are available in the church library and need to be returned by Nov. 13.

First Calvary Women’s Day

The celebration of women continues at First Calvary Baptist Church, 400 S. Long St., continues on Sunday at 11 a.m. with guest speaker LaTonya Albright, author, coach, public speaker and 16-year correctional professional with the NCDPS. She is the CEO of several business ventures including LaTonya Renee Enterprises.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Winston-Salem State and a master’s degree from NC A&T. She is co-author of “Camouflage, an Anthology” with 13 other women sharing stories of courage and triumph.

Albright is a member of Victorious Praise Fellowship Church in Durham.

Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion 

EAST SPENCER — Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion Church, 940 S. Long St., will host Life Members Council – Anna L. Anderson Day on Sunday at 11 a.m.

The guest speaker will be Evangelist Willene Campbell. The Missionary Dept. will observe this event. Marva McCain is the chairperson for the Life Members Council and Elisa Jones is the parent body president.

Soldiers Memorial

On Sunday, Soldiers Memorial will celebrate homecoming. Pastor Rev. Dr. Derrick Anderson will deliver the 11 a.m. sermon with music by the Cathedral Choir, directed by Kay Wright Norman.

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Salisbury, 1920 Shirley Ave., celebrates the 24th pastoral anniversary of the Rev. Dr. Nilous M. Avery II on Sunday at 11 a.m.

The Rev. William H. Clayton of Saint James Missionary Baptist Church in Henderson is guest speaker. Clayton is a graduate of NC A&T State University, Greensboro, and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, Atlanta, Ga. He has completed theological and graduate studies at Shaw University Divinity School, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Virginia Union School of Theology, Richmond. He is presently enrolled in a dual degree program at the Chicago Theological Seminary.

Dr. Avery is a graduate of Shaw University and Shaw Divinity School with a doctor of ministry degree from Hood Theological Seminary. He currently serves as president of the General Baptist State Convention of NC which is comprised of over 1,600 churches and 60 associations.

Praise concert and classic car cruise-in

On Sunday, Oct. 23, a classic car cruise-in fundraiser will be held from noon-6 p.m., with hot dogs and hamburgers served from 5:30-6:15 p.m.

There will be a contemporary praise and worship concert from 6:30-7:30 p.m. with music by Destiny City Church.

Jerusalem men’s Choir Celebration

SPENCER – Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1570 N. Long St. Extension, will host a gospel singing celebration spotlighting the men’s choir on Sunday at 3 p.m. Master of Ceremonies is Kenneth Abel of Fairview Heights Baptist Church. St. Luke Missionary 

The usher board of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its anniversary on Sunday at 3 p.m. The speaker for the event is Rev. John Cade of File Baptist Church in Lexington. Rev Cade was licensed by the Rowan Baptist Association in 1982 and has pastored two churches since his ordination. He was the pastor of New Faith Baptist Church for five years and has been at Files Chapel for the past eight years.

Women’s Day at New Hope

New Hope AME Zion Church, 1470 N. Long Street Extension, will observe its annual Women’s Day Celebration on Sunday at 3 p.m. Addie Hudson Lisby, chief communications officer of the AME Zion Church, is guest speaker.

Lisby received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Brenau College for Women in Gainesville, Ga. and her faith community nurse practitioner certification from Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, Ga. She now lives in the Charlotte area, where she serves as the editor of the Star of Zion.

The theme for the celebration is “Women About God’s Work: Spiritually United through Prayer and Supplication.” To symbolize the blood of Jesus, everyone is encouraged to wear the color red. The Rev. Dr. Debra J. Hall is host pastor.

Providence AME Zion homecoming

Providence AME Zion church, 2415 Providence Church Road, will hold homecoming and revival beginning Sunday at 3 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Harold L. Jordan, pastor of Third Creek AME Zion Church of Cleveland.

Revival services are at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 24-25. Monday’s speaker is Rev. Jordan and Tuesday’s speaker is the Rev. David Smalls, pastor of Liberty AME Zion Church of Mocksville.

The Arbor awards pins

The Arbor United Methodist Women awarded two members with a Lifetime Membership Pin at morning worship on Oct. 16. Those ladies included Cheryl McDaniel, past president of the UMW and Hilda Osborne for her past work in the organization. Suzanna Miller, current president of the UMW, presented the pins.
