Clergy call meeting for Saturday to help flood victims

SALISBURY — Chief Fleming “Holy Eagle” Otey, who is a member of the Salisbury-Rowan Ministerial Association, says he has called an emergency meeting of all clergy, crisis first responder representatives and civic emergency officials for Saturday to discuss how to help flood victims in North Carolina, particularly Lumbee Indians.
The meeting will be held from 11 a.m.-noon at the Tower of Power Church, Cemetery, 601 E. Cemetery St., Salisbury.
Otey said any efforts at assistance will try to be coordinated through the Red Cross.
In addition, an Indian Mini Powwow is scheduled from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 4 at the gymnasium on the VA Medical Center campus.
