SALISBURY — The Rowan Aquatic Club will hold its first Community Military Mile Swim Nov. 12 to raise money in support of the local chapter of Spouses of the National Guard.

The non-timed event is being held a day after Veterans Day. It will start at 8:30 a.m. at J.F. Hurley Family YMCA.

Participants swim a mile — 66 lengths of the pool — or as much as they want to swim. Flippers, floaties and kickboards are all allowed.

The fee is $20. Participants who pre-register at the Y by Nov. 10 will receive a “Military Mile Swim” T-shirt. Each participant also will earn a certificate for the distance they achieve, and refreshments are available after the swim.
