Clyde R. “Bud” Bonds, 83, 216 Sharpe Ave., died Jan. 30, 2007, at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born Feb. 10, 1923, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Bonds was a son of the late Arthur R. and Carrie Holbrooks Bonds.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps’ 9th Air Force during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 8989.

He retired in 1989 after 49 years in the Set Department of Cannon Mills Plant 1.

He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.

Survivors include wife Dorothy Shinn Bonds; sons Douglas Bonds, Greenville, N.C., and Eddie Bonds, Kannapolis; and a grandson.

A service was held Jan. 31, 2007, at Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by Elder John Antko.
