SALISBURY — An 8-year-old child is in fair condition this morning after being hit by a car on Wednesday evening.

According to Capt. Melonie Thompson, Anita Mcleod was driving west on West Horah Street. She saw a child standing near the road so she slowed down as a precaution.

As she was passing a residence, another child, Nabre Bost, rode her bike out in front of the car from the driveway of the residence.

Thompson said the Mcleod was unable to see because of shrubs and a wall near the driveway.

Bost was ejected from her bike. She was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for a leg injury.

The speed limit of the area is 30 mph and Mcleod was driving around 20-25 mph.

No charges were filed against Mcleod.
