Fire Department investigates possible fire at Livingstone dorm, site of former Holiday Inn

SALISBURY — About 11 p.m. Saturday, Salisbury Fire Department was dispatched to investigate smoke in an upstairs room at 530 S. Jake Alexander Blvd., the former Holiday Inn which is now used by Livingstone College as a dormitory.
Firefighters were on the scene at press time, checking on Room 273 and also looking for any source of smoke elsewhere. At 11:10 a.m., the smoke seemed to be dissipating, according to reports.
The former hotel is also used by the school for its culinary arts and hospitality program.
