SALISBURY — A powwow for Lumbee Indians and eastern North Carolina flood victims will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday in the Building 6 gymnasium at the Hefner VA Medical Center.

There is no cost and there will be a lunch offered, too. Lumbee Indians of Salisbury will be honored, and performers from Pembroke University and the recent flooding disaster zone will be on hand.

A special teepee will be set up and decorated by Salisbury residents Yoshiko Otey and Chief Fleming Otey.

Guest speaker will be Chief Holy Eagle.

Tina and Bill Godair will be demonstrating the special American Indian “fooze-ball” game using a sponge, wicker and small brooms. There will be award-winning dancing and testimonials.
