Voter fraud exists in unseen ways

Here is my experience with voter fraud in my home town of Salisbury.

Real voter fraud at the polls is almost nonexistent. Other types of voter fraud are alive and well.

A good friend of mine from high school had asked me for a ride to the polls during the last presidential election. She has been down on her luck with serious medical issues, had no car, and was living in a Rowan County Housing Authority apartment.

I called her the Monday before the election and she said: “No David, the election is next Tuesday.” I convinced her that the election was on Tuesday and we set up a time to meet.

I picked her up and we headed for her local polling place, just up the road from her apartment. It was really walking distance but I didn’t mind giving her a ride.

She told me I was going the wrong way. She said her precinct was closed and she had to vote at the Rowan Public Library or the Rowan County Board of Elections and that was why she really needed a ride.

I had just driven past her precinct on the way over and it was open. I asked her why she thought her poll was closed. Seems an official looking person from a “Get Out The Vote Campaign” had canvassed her neighborhood — a predominantly black and Democratic area — telling folks the wrong election date and location to vote.

I later confirmed this with some of her neighbors. This is a classic tactic of Republicans to disenfranchise poor voters with transportation issues. We must make sure to get out the vote!

Time to repeal ‘Obamacare’

Approximately one year ago, we submitted a letter to the editor titled “It’s time to repeal Obamacare.” The letter documented the tremendous increase in healthcare premiums caused by Obamacare and the complete withdrawal of major insurance companies from the marketplace due to the provisions in this law.

Now, just one year later, we continue to see more huge increases to our healthcare premiums, the loss of additional health insurance companies and the further deterioration of our healthcare system for millions of Americans. Today, millions more Americans are either without quality health insurance, are facing increases in their premius of 25 percent to 100 percent, have been forced to take unreasonably high deductibles, or have absolute no insurance at all and pay Obamacare imposed penalties.

It is also important to note this was opposed by the majority of American citizens.

If action is not taken soon, hundreds of thousands of previously insured families will be without quality healthcare insurance under Obamacare.

Again it’s time to repeal Obamacare. So, please vote and vote to take back America and help make America and our healthcare system strong again. The difference you make can make all the difference in this election.
