Maxine P. Sharpe

Maxine Pennell Sharpe, 79, 805 Cherrywood St., died Friday (Jan. 26, 2007) at Hospice of Charleston, Charleston, S.C., after a month of declining health.
Born May 9, 1927, in Alexander County, Mrs. Sharpe was a daughter of the late Hugh Columbus and Annie Iona Murphy Pennell.
A long-time area resident, she worked in the Sewing Room at Cannon Mills and was a homemaker.
She was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church and was a gifted pianist who had no formal training.
Her husband, Paul Alfred Sharpe, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons Gary M. Sharpe, Kannapolis, and Kenneth A. Sharpe, Mount Pleasant, S.C.; sister Hazel Keller, Concord; and five grandchildren.
A service was held Sunday (Jan. 28, 2007) at Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Coy Privette. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
