Relay for Life team had support of many
As a local educator, I wanted to let the public know of positive things that schools do to bring together all members of a community to fight for a wonderful cause.
Knollwood Elementary is in its sixth year of supporting the Rowan Relay For Life. We are often approached by other schools about fund-raising ideas that have helped us to raise money. It is simple. It takes a community of educators, parents, children and a variety of businesses coming together to volunteer their services and time.
We recently held a father/daughter, mother/son dance at our school. This is an annual event that the parents and students look forward to each year. To make it happen requires a lot of work by everyone involved.
I would like to personally thank those who volunteered to help this event come together. I would like to thank the teachers, assistants, parents, students and administration. I would also like to thank the following businesses; Pizza Hut, Tinseltown, O’Charley’s, Alisha at Wal-Mart, Chick-fil-A, Cheerwine, Little Debbie, Woodleaf Lanes, Sound Sensations DJ Service and A Classic Moment Photography. A special thank you to Mark Cannon for airbrushing our beautiful mural.
All of these wonderful people dedicated their time for a reason, to come together to fight for a cure for cancer. One day it will happen; all people who are diagnosed with cancer will become survivors!
