SALISBURY —A group of shops have come together to host a brunch, shopping and wine sipping event downtown.
On Dec. 4, community members and visitors are invited to a Sunday Stroll in Salisbury, an event that will feature nine downtown shops that carry vintage and antique items, most of which are not usually open on Sundays.
Julie Apone, owner of Carolina Lily, was the creative mind behind the event, but she passed it along to Jeff Penfil, owner of Stately Homes, when she got too busy to carry it on.
Other shops downtown are also open on Sundays, but this event is focused on shops that feature antique and vintage items.
The day will start with a brunch at Emma’s of Salisbury restaurant from around 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants can leave their cars in the restaurant’s parking lot and walk from shop to shop using a provided map.
The shops will be open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will have different discounts and specials for those with maps.
For example, Stately Homes will be offering a 20 percent discount on merchandise.
Carolina Lily, Great Finds & Designs, the Kitchen Store, Brown Eyed Suzy, Fine Frame Gallery, South Main Book Co., along with Stately Homes, will all be a part of the stroll.
The event will end with a wine tasting at the Salisbury Wine Shop.
Penfil said this is the first time the stroll has been planned. Along with giving customers discounts on their holiday shopping, Penfil said it also allows the different shops to share their customer base.
“It’s sort of a reciprocity between us,” he said.
The stroll will be set up so that participants will end up back at Emma’s to pick up their cars.
Call Jeff Penfil at Stately Homes at 704-633-6220 for more information. Maps will be available at all participating shops.
