Livingstone women fall to Armstrong State

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Livingstone lost its second game in the BJ Ford Women’s Basketball Classic here Saturday, falling to host Armstrong State, 77-66.
On Friday night, the Blue Bears (1-2) was defeated to No. 24 Clayton State, 91-79.
Coach Tiffany Silver’s Blue Bears fell behind by halftime, 35-24, and could not come back. Livingstone had a big third quarter, scoring 29 points, but the Pirates offset that total with 27, going into the final period with a 62-53 advantage.
Junior guard Brittany Taylor led Livingstone with 23 points on 7-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range. Senior guard Bria Patterson followed with 19 points and Deonna Young added 10.
Zena Lovette, who had been leading the team in scoring, was held to eight points.
Brigitta Barta led Armstrong State (2-3) with 19 points.
The Blue Bears open their home schedule on Tuesday (5:30), hosting Claflin at New Trent Gym.
