RALEIGH — Dr. Eleanor E. Greene of High Point was sworn in as president of the North Carolina Medical Board (NCMB) during the board meeting held Nov. 15-18.

Dr. Greene, who practices gynecology, currently works at Triad Women’s Health and Wellness Center in High Point.

Dr. Greene grew up in Salisbury. She is the daughter of Ralph and Pearl Wilson of Salisbury and is a graduate of North Rowan High School in Spencer.

She was originally appointed to NCMB in 2010 and has served on the board’s disciplinary, executive, license and policy committees, as well as the Board of Directors for the N.C. Physicians Health Program.

Dr. Greene’s term as board president will run from Nov. 1, 2016 until Oct. 31, 2017. Dr. Greene previously served as the board’s secretary/treasurer and as its president-elect.

Dr. Greene earned a BS degree in medical technology from the former Bowman Gray School of Medicine (now Wake Forest University School of Medicine) in Winston-Salem. She received her MD degree and a Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Dr. Greene completed residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Greene is a member of the North Carolina Medical Society, Doctors for America, the North Carolina Obstetrics and Gynecology Society and the National Medical Association, where she served on the Board of Directors and finance and health policy committees. She currently serves on the editorial committee of the Federation of State Medical Boards.

In addition, Dr. Greene has served on the Board of Directors for the Piedmont Health Services and Sickle Cell Agency and on the North Carolina Advisory Committee on Cancer Coordination and Control.
