James G. Dennis
CHINA GROVE ó James Grady Dennis, 73, 1770 Pine Ridge Road, died Nov. 19, 2006, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center, Salisbury.
Born July 26, 1933, in Rowan County, Mr. Dennis was a son of the late Arthur B. and Effie Peacock Dennis.
He attended Rowan County schools and Pine Ridge Baptist Church.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a licensed-certified welder/electrician with Allied Automotive. He served as president of the United Auto Workers chapter.
Daughter Tangie Lou Dennis died Sept. 27, 1960.
Survivors include wife Sarah Sells Dennis, whom he married in 1953; sons James Grady Dennis Jr., Granite Quarry, and Duran B. Grady Dennis, China Grove; daughter Tonya Yee, Rockwell; brother A.B. Dennis, Salisbury; sister Ruth Shehan, Salisbury; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A service was held Nov. 21, 2006, at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. John Blalock Jr., pastor, Rockwell United Methodist Church. Burial, Greenlawn Cemetery.
