Majority needs to be resolute and vigilant

The election has been a portal to a horrifying alternate reality. The majority of America that voted for Clinton is feeling betrayed by an archaic election system that awarded the populous vote loser the presidency. But this is a time for courage, not crying.

The loyal American majority needs to rally our inner strength and be courageous, calm and resolute. Pay attention and be vigilant, but don’t dwell on this crisis and drive yourself crazy.

Also, do not tune out; be watchful. Choose ways to make a difference. Connect to like-minded folk. Do not compromise with bigotry and hatred. We must protect others.

I have friends that have already been hatefully harassed by “sore winners.” One was a retired highly decorated US Army Veteran who was told to “Go back to where you came from — we won the election!”

We must bide our time and pray and plan for the next battle that we must win! Let us hope that eventually his supporters will realize Trump has already betrayed them.

Votes were suppressed

Elizabeth Cook’s editorial, “Sowing doubt by the millions,” published on Dec. 5, is so to the point. Many people feel the U.S. has already passed the point of no return. You cannot tell me that the voter repression did not impact the election results. GOP-controlled boards of elections cut out many polling places and early voting, especially after the court overturned their poor voter ID law.

Trump continues to lie in his ridiculous tweets. Yes, we have already lost much in the eyes of the world. He certainly does not act presidential. He is handling the transition quite poorly. Thankfully, I am old enough that I may not live to see the end destruction, but I am terrified for this country and its people.
