Want to know more about ‘Lunch & More’? Just call
The Rowan County Senior Services Department would like to thank the Salisbury Post for the recent “headline news” announcing the new Lunch & More meal site at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, located across from the VA Hospital. Judging from the numerous inquiries about the site, it would appear that there are many seniors who are not familiar with this program. Therefore, I would like to use this opportunity to suggest that people call the Rowan County Senior Services Department to obtain more information. The number to call is 704-216-7700.
More than just eating a meal, the reporter did an excellent job of describing the wonderful fellowship and interesting activities that occur at each of the eight locations in Rowan County. The only requirement is for an individual to be at least 60 years old. The sites are open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no charge for the meal, but attendees are encouraged to make a contribution. A limited amount of transportation is available at most of the meal sites.
Our department is appreciative of the warm reception from John Calvin Presbyterian Church. This is a great example of the faith community collaborating with a unit of government to serve our senior population.
