The St. John’s Men’s Chorus will present its annual Christmas Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary of St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 W. Innes St., Downtown Salisbury. This year’s concert is titled “Rejoice!”

The chorus is directed by Rosemary Kinard and is accompanied by Janie Rollins. Kimberly Lentz will direct the St. John’s Luther Ringers Handbell Choir, who will present music for the prelude and at intermission.

The concert will include many favorites such as “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” “Beautiful Savior,” “Ave Maria,” a lively setting of “Born, Born in Bethlehem,” and a Christmas Carol sing-along for all. The St. John’s Inner Voices, an auditioned small ensemble of Men’s Chorus members, will sing a traditional Carol, “As Lately We Watched,” and the upbeat West Indian Spiritual, “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy.”

A freewill offering will be received during the intermission to benefit Rowan Helping Ministries, and the performance will include a “Carol Sing-Along” for the audience. A nursery will be available for young children.

The Men’s Chorus was formed in 1994 as a part of the fellowship ministry at St. John’s. It quickly grew into a community group, composed of men from the Salisbury-Rowan area who enjoy singing all styles of music. The group rehearses on Sunday afternoons in the fall and spring.
