EAST SPENCER — The board will hear from members of its potential real estate development team who will be selected to help the town redevelop the former Rowan-Salisbury School Administration building into affordable senior housing.
The meeting will take place this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at town hall, 105 S. Long St.
The town has been consulting with Development Finance Initiative (DFI), a group based out the UNC School of Government, on how it could develop town properties.
The recommended redevelopment for the property is to create affordable senior housing. The main building can fit between 20 to 23 apartments while the annex can fit between seven to 10 apartments.
The town plans to place the building on the nomination list for the National Register, making the building eligible for historic tax credits.
The board received requests for qualifications from the Landmark Group, a development group based in Winston-Salem that would act as the lead developer; Martin-Riley Associates, a Decatur, Ga. company that would provide architectural services; while Rehab Builders Inc. of Winston-Salem would be the general contractor on the project.
The board will hear from John Stiltner of Landmark Group about the project.
The board will also discuss its K-9 policy to include any training for the officer and the dog as well as the organization of the program and how the dog will be used.
The board will also discuss the purchase of police cars.
