Pray for guidance during celebrations & transitions

As we celebrate our God-given holidays, we should remember our Thanksgiving blessings and our heritage when the brave pilgrims came to America to explore and discover new life. They were bringing with them their faith in God, overcoming their challenging trip and the unknown that faced them for their future. This kind of faith was created in their hearts and souls to be passed on for generations to come- praise God!

Now we are celebrating Christmas, the season of preparing our hearts to celebrate the greatest gift of all, God’s son, Jesus, whose birth was an eternal gift. That lasts forever in our hearts if we accept him as our savior. Jesus was born a humble birth to let us know how we too must follow his earthly teachings. He taught his disciples lessons to be passed on to us, God’s children. How we use our gift of life is our gift to God. We often take our gifts from heaven for granted. Hope, love, and peace came to Earth when Jesus came. With grateful hearts, we pray that when shopping for gifts to show our love to others.

Remember all those less fortunate. Great opportunities are available abundantly. Christmas Happiness, Samaritan’s Purse, and Angel Trees are among the many needy programs.

As our country is going through government change, remember God’s words in Ecclesiastes 3:18. The seasons of our own lives were created by God. The way we respond to changes, I find, has need for much contact with the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us through our prayers to him.

Not so family-friendly

To the friends who were our guests Dec. 6 for sponsor night at the Lee Street production of the 10-minute Christmas plays, we are extremely embarrassed at the language, adult topics and gestures by the actors in the (Acting Showcase) presentation before the plays. We had no knowledge of what was to be presented. We thought we were to see a family-friendly play. We offer our apologies.
