One dead after shooting early Saturday morning

A 37-year old man is dead after being shot early Saturday morning.
Police said Albert Shelton Jr. died after suffering a gunshot wound. Initially, a call indicated Shelton was suffering from cardiac arrest. The call came in at 2:12 a.m. Saturday from the 700 block of Victory Street, which is adjacent to Salisbury High School.
After responding to the cardiac arrest call, first responders found Shelton suffering from a gunshot wound. Shelton died on the scene, Salisbury police said.
Police are calling the incident a homicide, making it the third in Salisbury in December. The prior two resulted in the death of 22-year-old Sharod Raheen Mathis at Firewater Lounge and seven-year-old A’yanna Allen while she was sleeping at her grandmother’s home.
When asked questions about the incident, Salisbury Police Department spokesperson Capt. Shelia Lingle said she would issue a news release when more information could be disclosed. No further information was provided on Saturday.
