Time running out to register for Rowan County History Course

SALISBURY — Spaces remain available for the 13-week 2017 Rowan County History Course, presented jointly by the Rowan Museum and Historic Salisbury Foundation.

The course runs from Feb. 2-May 4. Classes meet at various historic locations, beginning with the Rowan Museum. The course includes information on Native Americans, early pioneers, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, industrialization and much more up to modern times.

Most classes are held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

The basic text is “Rowan County … A Brief History,” by James S. Brawley. It is available at the Rowan Public Library or on CD at the class for $10.

Cost of the course is $30 for the general public, $25 for current members of Historic Salisbury Foundation and Rowan Museum and $20 for newcomers to the community (the past 12 months).
