Trinity Presbyterian prayer breakfast 

Registration for today’s prayer breakfast at Trinity Presbyterian Church USA, 300 S. Caldwell St., starts at 8:45 a.m. Breakfast begins at 9 a.m. Tickets are $5 .

Unified service at First Presbyterian 

Sunday, First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury will hold a unified service or worship. Our schedule for the day will be unique. Sunday school is at 9:30 and the unified worship in the sanctuary is at 10:30 a.m. At 11:30 is a congregational meeting and introduction to the FPC Mission Study. At noon, TWAM (Teens With A Mission) will host a congregational lunch in Lewis Hall. The lunch is free; donations will be accepted to help with the costs of the 2017 TWAM Mission Trip to Mexico to build homes for people in need. At 4 p.m. is a Service of Wholeness and Healing in the sanctuary.

Baptist Men’s Day at N. Main Baptist 

The Men of North Main Baptist Church, 1501 N. Main St., will lead in worship at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. Guest speakers will be Michael Esquer, “Dickie” Stoner, Daryl Raper and Henderson Lentz a student/athlete at North Rowan H.S. The Men’s Choir will lead in worship.

Calvary Baptist pastor to retire

Pastor Rick and Jackie are retiring and will conclude their ministry at Calvary Baptist Church at the 10:45 a.m. service on Sunday after 20 years. Chris, Brooke, and their families will be with be in attendance. There will be a covered dish lunch after the service. Calvary Baptist Church, 2255 East Ridge Road.

The Cedar Grove AME Zion Church Buds of Promise will observe Marie L. Clinton Day on Sunday at the 11 a.m. service.

Le’Reese Hubbard, son of Demario and Carrie Duncan-Ellis, will be the speaker. Le’Reese is a 9th grader at North Meck Academy in Huntersville where he has been the school president for three years, leader of the Young Men’s Club and works with special needs students.

Immanuel Lutheran Debuts New Choir and Digital Piano

ROCKWELL—The twenty-two member Immanuel Lutheran Church Chancel Choir, otherwise known as The I-L-Triple C, will make its debut performance this Sunday under the direction of Dr. William Dwayne Robertson, “Dr. Rob,” who was recently installed as the new Director of Music. This musical debut also includes the introduction of a new Roland Digital Piano which Dr. Rob will play as the choir presents a special anthem “He Touched Me.” The new instrument was purchased with donations from the Hoyt and Nell Bost Memorial Fund designated for the purpose of enriching the musical programs at Immanuel. Some of the features of this instrument include: a high-resolution monitor with 400 internal songs with digital sheet music, skill-building games, a recorder, USB flash memory and fifty onboard rhythm accompaniments. The worship service will be led by Rev. Bruce Sheeks, pastor, and begins at 11:00 p.m.

Chunn at St. Luke Missionary Baptist 

On Sunday, at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Hawkinstown, the Rev. Chris Chunn will speak at the morning service. Sunday School is at 9:45 a.m. Rev. Chunn  is a native of the Salisbury area and the son of James and Betty Chunn of Salisbury.

Mount Zion UCC ordination service

CHINA GROVE — On Sunday Mt. Zion UCC, 1415 S. Main St., will ordained and install as deacons Laura Holshouser, Rachel Rawlings and Jack Untener. Installed as elders are Emily Bancroft and Tim Corriher. Following worship Mt. Zion children and youth will gather for lunch and a movie. Wednesday from 5:30-7 p.m. is Pancake Dinner Night.

Vision Baptist soup luncheon

ROCKWELL — Vision Baptist Church, 10185 Old Beatty Ford Road, will host a 4-soup luncheon following Sunday’s morning service, featuring potato, vegetable, hearty chicken noodle and salmon stew, all homemade. KANNAPOLIS – The Piedmont Singing Men will presents a gospel concert at 6 p.m. on Sunday at Blackwelder Park Baptist Church, 2204 Summit Ave. The concert is part of the group’s “Sacred Repertoire” set. There is no admission charge, but a love offering will be taken.

New London UMC to host Bible Study

NEW LONDON — On Monday, Jan. 30, New London United Methodist Church, 206 S. Main St., will begin a five-week study of Bishop Robert Schnase’s book, Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations, beginning at 6:30 p.m., a discussion of the practices of radical hospitality, passionate worship, intentional faith development, risk-taking mission and service, and extravagant generosity.

Lenoir-Rhyne student advocates for Nation of Israel

HICKORY— A convocation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 31 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the “Bears Lair” of the Cromer Center on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University. The event will be conducted by David F. Bares II, associate minister at Morning Start First Baptist of Hickory.

The subject for discussion will be “Jewish Contributions to/for Humanity” scientifically, medically, technologically and spiritually. Guest speakers include David E. Roberts II, pastor of Morning Star First Baptist and Rabbi Dennis Jones of Temple Beth Shalom. The purpose of the meeting is to combat antisemitism. Pastors and ministers are encouraged to attend. Queens in Training

Queens in Training is an empowerment group for young ladies age 8-17; women are also welcome. This group is a setting for young teenage girls to be empowered through discussions, trainings, meetings, workshops and programs aimed toward bringing back the essence of being a lady. The fundamentals of lady etiquette will be brought back into the lives of our young ladies in an effort to gear them towards more positive aspects in life.

Health Fair at Saint Peter’s Lutheran 

Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church is hosting a Health Fair on Feb. 8. A variety of services will be available: everything from cholesterol tests to dental screenings (and many more).

This Health Fair is made possible through generous partners.
