Piano recitalsThe piano students of Tina Brown of Rockwell presented two spring recitals for the residents of The Meadows of Rockwell and Carebridge Assisted Living in Mount Pleasant on Saturday, March 15. The recitals featured a variety of folk songs and hymns, in the style of popular and classical works.The following students performed at The Meadows: Alyssa Hammill, Taylor Kirk, Laura Agner, Marian Hough, Elizabeth Lee, Meredith Allen, Jenna Brown, Matthew Hodge, Nathan Hough, Rebecca Agner and Jordan Hartman.
Students performing at Carebridge were: Alyssa Hammill, Daniel Pell, Lydia Hartung, Chelsea Green, Sara Johnson, Kelly Dulkoski and Carol Brown.
Yawn Patrol
Yawn Patrol Zone Toastmasters met March 18 at United Cabarrus Insurance offices. Ann Carroll was Toastmaster for the evening, and the theme was “Power at the Podium.”
Table topics winner was Tim Pryor. June Pryor was both voted Best Speaker and Ken Miller was voted Best Evaluator. Tim and June Pryor were welcomed as new members.
Skateboard winners
SkateCity Skate Shop held a High Ollie Contest on Friday, March 14, during Downtown Salisbury’s “Night Out on the Town.”
Skateboarders took turns jumping over obstacles of graduated height. The winners were the skateboarders who cleared the highest obstacle.
Winners in the 15 and older age group were: Matt Mitchell of Faith, first place; Justin Chambers of Cleveland, second place.
In the 14 and under age group, winners were: Ben Strickland of China Grove, first place; Victor Faries of Salisbury, second place.
