GOLD HILL — The annual meeting of Historic Gold Hill and Mines Foundation Inc. will be at 6:30 Monday night at Russell-Rufty Memorial Shelter at Gold Hill Mines Historic Park.

Doors will open at 6:30. The program will begin at 7.

Foundation President Jay Culp will host the business meeting, introducing members of the board who will offer reports and updates of the foundation’s projects over the past year.

Preservation awards will be presented to Frankie Barringer of Mount Pleasant and Guy Medlin, a foundation board member and former manager of Vulcan Materials Gold Hill facility. Denise Hallett, community affairs manager of Vulcan Materials, also will receive a preservation award for the company.

After the awards presentations, Rick Shulenburger, chairman of the nominating committee, will offer a slate of nominees to fill expiring board seats.

The keynote speaker will be James Meacham, chief executive officer of the Rowan County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Meacham will talk about the Rowan County rebranding campaign being developed by Chandler Thinks. He will discuss what the project means for county tourism and the upcoming marketing campaign that will promote Rowan County.

The public is invited to attend the free meeting. Reservations are not required.

A social hour will be held after the meeting with refreshments in the Veterans Room.

Foundation members can pay their renewal dues when they arrive Monday night. Membership is not required to attend the meeting.
