Ryan Dinkler, a senior at North Rowan High School, with the help of Escape the Daily Grind Coffee House, has formed a poetry club, to allow writers and lovers of poetry to meet and share their work.
The club’s first meeting will be Friday, Jan. 18 from 5-6 p.m. at Escape the Daily Grind Coffee House.
As he grew to love poetry, Dinkler became motivated to form a group that shared his poetic interest. Ryan says he does not imitate the writings of famous poets. He does, however, admire the work of the dark romantic, Edgar Allen Poe. Ryan says that “The Raven” by Poe is his all-time favorite.
“It’s so romantic, and the meaning behind it is a mystery,” says Ryan.
He advises anybody who wishes to pursue writing poetry to find their own voice through emotion or experience.
Ryan encourages all ages to come out to this event.
Early participants of the poetry club will be able to help select the name.
