If you would like a few pointers to make your fishing more fun and productive, the Salisbury Parks and Recreation Department has just the seminar for you.
Teaming with the Carolina Boat Center and North Carolina Sportsman Magazine, the fishing seminar will be Tuesday, April 22, from 6:30 p.m. to about 9 p.m. at the Salisbury Civic Center, 315 S. Boundary St.
The evening will begin with a session on freshwater fishing for stripers, with an emphasis on local waters. The session will be taught by Capt. Mike Lundy, of Capt. Mike’s Guide Fishing, which operates from Stony Point. Lundy is an accomplished angler and tournament fisherman. He brings years of experience and tips on the latest lures, baits and techniques to the program.
After the opening session, participants will be treated to food and refreshments courtesy of Carolina Boat Center. During this time the instructors will be available for questions.
The final session will feature inshore saltwater fishing and will be taught by Capt. Jerry Dilsaver. Dilsaver is a staff writer for North Carolina Sportsman Magazine, 2001 Southern Kingfish Association (SKA) National Champion, 1998 US Anglers Association (USAA) Angler of the Year, July 2007 inductee into the SKA Hall of Fame and currently competes on the Redfish Action and Crystal Coast Redfish Tours. His knowledge is vast and includes numerous insights into the location and feeding preferences of these fish.
Both sessions will include information on equipment, tackle, rigging and locations for catching coastal saltwater fish.
The April timing is perfect to allow aspiring anglers time to practice what they learn during the 2008 fishing season across North Carolina.
