Mike and Cindy Adkins of Salisbury are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Lydia Adkins to Daniel Allen of Rock Hill, S.C.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of David and Lois Antle of Corbin, Ky., Jimmy Barker of Crittenden, Ky. and the late Cloyd and Helen Adkins of Delbarton, W.Va. A 2008 graduate of East Rowan High School, Lydia earned a Bachelor of Arts in history education from Campbell University in 2012. She earned a Master of Arts from Wake Forest University in 2015. She is currently a teacher and coach at North Rowan High School.

The future groom is the son of Bruton and Jean Allen of Rockwell and the grandson of Jim and Sissie Allen of Troy, and Jean Foust and the late Dewey Foust of Greensboro. A 2008 graduate of East Rowan High School, Daniel earned a Bachelor of Science in history and a Bachelor of Science in social science education at Western Carolina University in 2012. He earned a Master of Arts in education in college student personnel from Western Carolina University in 2014. He is the residential learning coordinator at Winthrop University.

The wedding is Aug. 12, 2017 at the Barn at Cedar Hill in Salisbury.
