Have you seen “Leatherheads” yet?
Would you like a bit of memorabilia related to the 1920s period film?
Would you like to help a local charity, too?
Now’s your chance.
Joe Lancione and Tom Wolpert, owners of A Step In Time, are selling two “Leatherheads Witness” clocks, with all proceeds going to local charities.
“The clocks were donated to us by Timeworks, Inc.,” says Lancione. The store carries many varieties of the California company’s clocks.
This particular version is a 12-inch wall clock that features a little boy in a leather football helmet running for a touchdown accompanied by his enthusiastic puppy.
Lancione and Wolpert hoped that the movie’s stars, Reneé Zellweger and George Clooney, would sign the clocks to increase their value.
“They were just too busy,” Lancione says. “When they’re working, they just don’t have time.”
The clocks are called the “Leatherheads Witness” clocks because they hung in Zellweger’s dressing room during filming in Salisbury.
Wolpert wrote this on the back of each timepiece: “This clock witnessed the filming of ‘Leatherheads’ at the Salisbury Depot April 16, 17, 18, 2007.”
“This was the closest we could get,” Lancione says.
John Kowalski, CEO of Timeworks, knew that “Leatherheads” was being filmed here, and thought the clocks would be a nice tie-in.
“We would like to sell them for charity,” Lancione says, “because they were given to us.”
The clocks ó both of which are exactly alike ó have a retail value of $75. They’re being sold for $100 each.
Lancione says that 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Faithful Friends.
The project is being done in memory of Kowalski’s father, who recently passed away.
