SALISBURY — Salisbury police officials said three people were sent to the hospital Friday after a five-vehicle collision at Brenner Avenue and Jake Alexander Boulevard.

Few details were available following the 1 p.m. crash.

The driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling west on Jake Alexander Boulevard. The driver, Onita Brown, 42, of Kannapolis, ran a stoplight and struck a blue sport utility vehicle, causing it to flip and trapping the driver inside. Another car was headed east on Jake Alexander Boulevard and turned onto Brenner Avenue.

The Tahoe bounced off the blue SUV and a black passenger car then hit two other cars on Jake Alexander Boulevard.

Salisbury Police Capt. Shelia Lingle said those two vehicles were driven away and the drivers were not taken to the hospital. The Tahoe, blue SUV and black passenger car were towed from the scene. The drivers were taken to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Reports said that one driver had some broken bones.

Brown was charged with driving while her license was revoked and running a red light.
