Paced by double-winner John Bostick, North Rowan won the Midwest 2A Regional track meet on Saturday.
North (63) edged East Lincoln (58) and Monroe (55) for the title.
Top-four finishers qualified for state competition.
Bostick won the 110 hurdles in 14.77. North’s Daishion Barger took second (15.0) and teammate Rodney Smith (15.38) was third.
Bostick won the 300 hurdles in 39.7. Smith placed third in 41.47.
North’s Anthony Imes was third in the discus with a throw of 146 feet, 5 inches.
North’s 4×400 relay team of Cameron Mallett, Corey Angle, Bostick and Smith placed second in 3:35.49, while the 4×200 relay team consisting of Lathan Charleston, Bostick, Barger and Smith placed third in 1:33.20.
Salisbury’s Romar Morris finished fourth in the 100 in 11.47 seconds.
Salisbury’s A.J. Ford placed fourth in the shot put with an effort of 45-11/2.
– Hornet girls cruise
Salisbury’s girls dominated the 2A Midwest Regional on Saturday.
The Hornets dominated the jumps and placed in the top four in every relay to accumulate 119 points.
Salisbury blew away its closest challengers รณ Hibriten (79), Monroe (45), Ledford (40), North Rowan (32), East Davidson (30) and North Lincoln (30).
Top-four finishers qualified for state competition.
Salisbury’s Shi-Heria Shipp (16 feet, 61/2 inches), Dasia McGill (15-51/2) and Bubbles Phifer (15-31/2) placed 1-2-3 in the long jump.
Shipp cleared 5 feet for second in the high jump.
Alisha Bradshaw won the shot (36-10) and took third in the discus (100-10).
McGill was second in the triple jump (32-11) and 100 hurdles (17.81).
Katherine Shields (12:33.93) was third in the 3200.
Emily Shields (2:41.31) was fourth in the 800.
Samantha Saulters (54.45) was fourth in the 300 hurdles.
Kia Rice (31-71/4) was fourth in the triple jump.
Tatiana Banks won the 400 in 1:02.45 to pace North’s girls.
In the 4×100 relay, North’s Corbin Bennett, Cristen Jones, Akevia Charleston and Diamond Jackson ran 51.86 for third place. Salisbury’s Nickola Bradshaw, Lauren Caldwell, Chantelle Isaac and Symone Knox placed fourth in 53.13.
Salisbury was second in the 4×200, as Nickola Bradshaw, Caldwell, Isaac and Shipp ran 1:49.13. North’s Banks, Bennett, Jones and Tameisha Allen placed third in 1:50.9.
North was second in the 4×400 relay, with Banks, Charleston, Jones and Allen running 4:24.90. Salisbury’s Katleyn Horning, Latrece Kelly, Saulters and Rice ran 4:32.76 for third.
Salisbury’s Horning, Emily Shields, Katherine Shields and Rice ran 11:08.93 for third place in the 4×800.
The 2A state meet is Friday at North Carolina A&T.
