Rowan weather: Cooler, calmer, but windy

Tuesday was hot and stormy. Today will be cooler and windy and we have another freeze warning for tonight, from midnight to 9 a.m. Thursday.

That hot weather produced severe thunderstorms that included strong winds and hail last night.

Today’s high will be 62, with sunny skies. Winds will blow from the north at 8-14 mph, with gusts up to 21 mph. Tonight’s low will be 31, with east northeast wind around 6 mph.

Thursday will be cooler yet, with a high of 54 and sunny skies. Wind will become east in the morning at 5-7 mph. The low will be 35 with light southeast wind.

Friday will be mostly sunny and 64 with light winds becoming south southwest at 5-10 mph in the morning. The low will be a warmer 47 degrees.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy and warmer, with a high of 73. A 30 percent chance of showers moves in after 3 a.m., with a low of 54.

We have a 50 percent chance of showers Sunday, and thunderstorms possible after 1 p.m. The chance of rain is 50 percent. The high will be 73. The chance of showers drops to 40 percent Sunday night, with a low of 54.

Heat returns Monday, with a high of 77 and partly sunny skies. There’s also a 30 percent chance of showers. The same chance of rain holds for Monday night, with another low of 54.

And Tuesday also has a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with partly sunny skies and a high of 74.
