SALISBURY — Buffalo Wild Wings and Chipotle restaurants are expected to open on East Innes Street by the end of the year.

The city’s Development Services Office has approved plans for Chipotle.

Plans for a Buffalo Wild Wings are pending approval. Teresa Barringer, development services coordinator for the city, said the plan required a few minor adjustments.

The restaurants will be in the 1500 block of East Innes Street at the former location of Pancho Villas Mexican Grill and Bar. Owner Juan Santiago closed the grill at the end of January, saying maintenance of the old building had become too costly. The building has since been demolished.

Pancho Villas is now located off Stokes Ferry Road.

Tribek Properties acquired the commercial parcel off East Innes in December. Development of an 11,300-square-foot, multitenant structure is underway.

Chipotle and Buffalo Wild Wings will occupy either end of the three-tenant complex. Barringer said there has not been a formal plan submitted for the middle location.

Alex Kelly, a partner in Tribek Properties, said developers are in early talks with an undisclosed third tenant.

A second single-tenant structure will be built after the multitenant structure is complete.

“We’ll start working through that after we’re done with this first phase,” Kelly said.

The site will include parking for 105 vehicles, which may call for an adjustment in the area’s traffic pattern.

“The roadway design is intertwined with this project, but it’s also a separate phase,” Barringer said. “There’s a portion that the developer is involved with and a portion that the North Carolina Department of Transportation is involved with.”

Kelly said developers expect initial construction to be completed by this summer. Tenants will then outfit their spaces and are expected to be open by the end of the year.

“That’s construction for you,” Kelly said. “It takes time.”
