SALISBURY — Mayor Karen Alexander remained hospitalized Friday after being involved in a car accident on Thursday.
In an interview, Alexander said she expects to be in the hospital one more day as more tests are conducted.
At 1 p.m. Thursday, she was involved in a two-car accident on South Fulton Street.
She described her injuries as “a bundle of bruises.” Alexander said she suffered a concussion. She did not have any broken bones.
Alexander said she’s grateful that the people in the other vehicle were not injured in the accident.
Salisbury police said Alexander, who was driving a 2014 Hyundai northeast on South Fulton Street, ran a red light at the intersection of West Monroe Street. Police said her car hit a 2002 Lexus traveling southeast on West Monroe Street.
Police said neither of the people in the other vehicle — driver Miles Walker or passenger Zaedrian Harris, both of Salisbury — were injured.
Alexander has been cited by police for running a red light.
