Catawba and Steppin’ Out present ‘Alice in Wonderland’ fantasy

“Alice in Wonderland: A Dance Fantasy,” is based on Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland with music composed by Nicolas Rabeus.
This performance is an exciting new collaboration between Catawba Dance Ensemble and Steppin’ Out Dance Company.
The cast of 30 dancers, with ages ranging from 6 to early 20s, retells the story of the fantastical world beyond the rabbit hole in styles from ballet to tango.
The cast is under the direction of Meredith Fox and Sylvia Swisher and includes Catawba College students Alaina Cantrell of Greenville, SC, Sara Falso of Columbia, SC, Shannon Harris of Reidsville, Cassie James of Robbins, Kelly Sandoval of Santa Fe, NM, Madison Taylor Sides of Landis, Lisa Strupe of Mooresville Arnold Blohme IV of Fairhope, Ala., Jameson Clanton of Garner, Tyler Garner of Robbins, Kevin Kent of Monroe, Mason Livers of Charlotte, Darren Vance of Reidsville, and Nicky Vassello of Hillsborough.
The Steppin’ Out Dance Company performers include Elizabeth Applewhite, Corbin Barber, Mallory Brau, Addison Connell, Josie Flake, Sydney Griggs, Madison Humphries, Mya Langford, Katelyn Lentz, Megan Lentz, Rebecca Lewis, Grayce Pittman, Autumn Rabon, Hannah Shumaker, Sophie Strickland, and Sierra Thomas.
The creative team includes Christopher Zink as technical director and choreographers Meredith Fox, Sylvia Swisher, Jennifer Perrell, Spencer Ann Bowden, Kristie Cauble, Kayla Guffey, Charlee Beth Haddock and Tyler Garner.
“Alice in Wonderland: A Dance Fantasy” performs April 27- 29 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee performance April 29 at 2:30 p.m. at Lee Street Theatre, 329 N. Lee St.
