SALISBURY — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office has ruled that the death of an inmate at the county jail was not suspicious.
Byron Thomas Bradshaw, 38, had been jailed less than two weeks.
The Kannapolis Police Department brought him to the jail after his arrest. He was wheelchair-bound upon arrival and had ongoing health problems, said Chief Deputy David Ramsey.
Bradshaw fell a few days ago and was moved into a padded cell where further injuries could be prevented and he could be under closer observation.
“We are trying to determine the nature of his death,” Ramsey said.
It was not a suicide, he added.
Investigators are waiting on a report from the N.C. Medical Examiner’s Office.
