What is my road to career and life success? What are the roadblocks I might find? What is “fueling” my journey? What if I’ve gotten lost along the way?
Have you ever had any of these questions? Are you still looking for the answers?
Salisbury Jobs for Life is bringing a mini-series of career transition workshops to Rowan Helping Ministries on Thursday, May 18, from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. in the New Tomorrows classroom of the new building at 226 N. Long St. The classes are a small part of JFL’s longer semester-long course offered in the fall and winter each year.
The interactive sessions are for people who need encouragement, motivation, inspiration and direction as they go through job transitions — whether they are unemployed, underemployed or misemployed.
Participants will focus on vocational planning and what to do while waiting for a job. The classes are taught by JFL-trained instructors, and mentors will be available for those who need individual attention.
Classes will include:
May 18: What Are the Roadblocks to Success?
June 1: What Kind of Success Driver Am I?
June 15: How Do My Directions Affect Others?
June 29: What Do I Take With Me on the Journey?
July 6: What About the Detours I’ve Taken?
July 20: How Do I Get Farther Down the Road to Fulfillment?
Salisbury Jobs for Life is a faith-based life and career agency that assists those who find themselves going through any kind of job transition. Through exercises, discussion, role-play, homework assignments and short lectures, job seekers will be given strategies and real life examples of people who have met and overcome tremendous difficulties yet found hope and direction. Instructors and mentors will provide guidance in getting and maintaining jobs that are rewarding and meaningful.
The complete Jobs for Life course is a comprehensive job and career development program that covers personal assessment, vocational planning, jobs search strategies, resumé and interview skill building, as well as a holistic life focus. The 12-session class will hold interviews in August and will meet on Wednesday and Sunday nights. The semester begins on Wednesday, Sept. 6 and graduation is Sunday, Nov 5.
The Road to Success mini-series at Rowan Helping Ministries is free and open to the public. If you are interested contact Jean LeMaster at RHM 704-637-6838 (ext. 118) or Rod Kerr, site director, at Jobs for Life 704-633-0431 (ext. 105).
