CAMDEN, S.C. — Salisbury’s Michael Childress and his Cannon School teammate Lansdon Robbins were eliminated Saturday in the semifinals of the 66th annual Carolinas Four-Ball Championship at Camden Country Club.
Childress and Robbins, seeded third of 32 two-man match-play teams, defeated No. 18-seeded Matthew Laydon and Chris Mitchell in a Saturday morning quarterfinal, 2 and 1.
However, in the afternoon semifinals, Childress-Robbins fell to Ryan Marter and Jack Parrott, 4 and 3. Marter and Parrott, the tournament’s No. 2-seeded team, closed the match out with an eagle-2 on the par-4 15th hole.
Childress and Robbins went down fighting, with birdies on the last two holes.
