Dancers from Triple Threat Dance & Charm in Salisbury competed in the Contest of Champions National Studio Dance Competition held at the HP Field House and Jostens Center facilities located at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

The dancers traveled to Orlando Florida for three days and concluded on March 4. The team received several Overall and first place trophies.

Dancers were judged on technique, choreography, entertainment value, showmanship and overall impression by judges from New York City, Dallas Texas, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Utah and Walt Disney World Performing Arts Staff, Orlando, Fla.

The dancers competed against teams from as far away as London, Alaska, California, and Texas. Only the Top 3 high score teams received awards, unless the dancers placed in the overall Top 5 or Top 10 categories.

Show Production Division“Lion King” The dancers in “Lion King” featured every competition dancer from Triple Threat Dance & Charm and was awarded first place Overall.

Dancers placing in Overall Pee Wee Duets/Trios Division were Ahmya Walters, Kayla Graham and Gabrielle Dunlap-Rhodes “Part of Your World. Aniah Brothers and Jada Neely performed “Monsters Inc.”

Overall second place Small Ensemble/Group, “Lost Boys,” Pee Wee.

Overall third place Medium Ensemble/Group “Princess Tiana Almost There.”

Ranking first Overall in Tap and Clog Elementary category, “Merry Mouseketeers.”

Ranking third Overall in Novelty / Character was “Snow White and Her Peeps.”

Open Elementary routines Casey Jr. and Arabian Night, both placed second Overall.

Lyrical Elementary Group Dance “Glory” placed second Overall.

Soloists placing in the Overall Solo Divisions were Makayla Beard, Rotten to the Core, Nalaiah Everhart, Totally Minnie, Precious Ramsey-Greene, “I Belong”, and Alanna Rivers, “Friend Like Me.”

In the Feb. 3-5 Encore DCS Regional Charlotte Competition,  Top Junior Production Overall Award was “Lion King.”

Receiving Overall Top Petite Solo Award Taylor Brown “I Got Strings,” Overall Top Junior Solo Jai’da Atkins “Tink,” Overall Top Teen Solo, KaNiya Matthews “ Home” and Top Petite Solo third Overall Alanna Rivers “Friend Like Me.”

Top Petite Duet /Trio awarded second Overall, Kayla Graham, Gabrielle Dunlap-Rhodes and Ahmya Walters, “Part of Your World.”

Dances placed in overall placement for Junior Small group was “Lost Boys and Merry Mouseketeers.”  Placing second Overall large group “Glory.”   Receiving the best group of the day and the Junior Large Group Overall was “Purple Legend a dedication to PRINCE.”

In the  Feb. 18-19 Charlotte Starbound Regional Talent Competition, the Top Junior Production Award winner was “Lion King.”

Triple Threat received the “Studio Spirit Award.”

Top 3 Petite Intermediate Soloists Award, Precious Ramsey-Greene “I Belong.”

Top 10 Junior Intermediate Soloists Overall Division, Jai’da Atkins “Tink,” KaNiya Matthews “Home,” Leeana Debose “Colors of the Wind,” Kenleigh Dalton,“Miss Dimples.

Top 5 Junior Petite Intermediate Groups “Almost There” placed second Overall.

Placing in the Top 5 Junior Intermediate Groups were “Glory,”  “Lost Boys” and “Arabian Nights.”

Triple Threat Dance & Charm will compete in the Encore DCS National Dance Competition in Virginia Beach July 19-23 for their final dance competition.
