I find it very disturbing that when Detective Sgt. Mike Dummett was accused and arrested, it was the lead story on the front page. Today after all the facts came to light, he was cleared of any wrongdoing. Where is the media blitz to that story?

Perhaps this type of reporting is why the public has such a distrust for the media.

I am his wife, Jennifer Dummett, and I never said he assaulted me, as some reports said. This was all the Statesville Police Department’s doing, from their “higher-ups.”

It’s funny that if a cop goes out and shoots someone, they automatically get administrative leave while the investigation was going on. Mike was fired one day later after having no behavioral issues at work, so where is the justice in that?
