North Rowan senior left-hander Joe Harrison was voted Central Carolina Conference Pitcher of the Year.

A Belmont Abby signee, Harrison’s record was 3-6, but he pitched really well in several no-decisions and tough losses.

His ERA was 1.28. He struck out 91 and walked 17 in 60 innings.

Henderson Lentz, a senior outfielder who batted .475, and freshman first baseman Jordan Goodine also made the All-CCC team from North.

Salisbury placed four players on the all-conference team — first baseman Chandler Lippard (.415, 16 RBIs), catcher Bo Rusher (.362, 16 RBIs) and two-way players Griffin Myers and Joe Steinman.

Myers won five games and batted .353. Steinman won five games and drove in 15 runs.

North Rowan’s Cailtyn Slusser and Salisbury’s Bryanna Troutman were named to the All-CCC softball team.

Salisbury placed eight players on the All-CCC girls soccer team, including CCC Offensive Player of the Year Ceci Cardelle and runner-up for CCC Defensive Player of the Year Julia Honeycutt.

Also making All-CCC from Salisbury were  Katie Bullock, Ellen Simons, Juliana Anderson, Nellie Brown, Mary Capito and Emily Mann.

North Rowan is represented on the All-CCC team by Ashley Lore.

Salisbury’s Matt Parrish was runner-up for CCC Coach of the Year.

Salisbury’s Tyrone Johnson, conference champion in the 100 and 200 meters, was named the performer of the year for CCC boys track.

Salisbury’s Keegan Dillon, Brody Dillon, Arrawn Yang, John Dunham, Zaedrian Harris and Jibri Cowan made the All-CCC team.

North Rowan’s Daylnn Cuthbertson and Terry Cathcart made All-CCC.

North Rowan’s Wendell Rhodes was runner-up for  CCC Coach of the Year.

North Rowan senior Payton Russell, who won state championships in the 200 and 400 meters, is the CCC Performer of the Year for girls track and field.

Salisbury freshman Leah Cressler was runner-up.

North’s Felicia Brannon was named CCC Coach of the Year, with Salisbury’s  James Page runner-up.

North Rowan’s Heavenly Robinson, Janiah Hall and Chevy Blaire made All-CCC.

Salisbury’s NiTavia Corpening made All-CCC.

Junior Legion

Carson scored the deciding run on a wild pitch in the seventh inning and topped Mocksville, 4-3, in its opening game on Sunday.

Cole Hales pitched four innings for Carson. Nolan Eudy threw two innings, and Devin Gay pitched the  seventh and got the win.

Hales and Aaron Misenheimer had RBIs for Carson.

Carson is on the road at 7 p.m. tonight against the Mooresville Legends.

Intimidators

Grant Massey’s two-run single in the seventh lifted Kannapolis to a 9-8 win against Hickory on  Sunday at Intimidators Stadium.

  Kannapolis (22-19) evened the season series with Hickory at 6-all.

Kannapolis continues a  homestand against Greenville tonight.

Local golf

In the ever competitive, but friendly,  McCanless Couples Sunday afternoon golf outing, the team of Azalee Story, David Huneycutt and Walt Kincaid led the field and beat the team of Mary and Gene Seaford and Susan Wydner.

Lexi Miller had closest to the pin. Mary Seaford had longest putt.

Gray Stone soccer

Fifth-seeded Gray Stone will will play at No. 1 seed Community School of Davidson on Tuesday in the regional final.

Gray Stone had a last-minute 2-1 win against East Surry in the fourth round.

Christina Gentile scored the first goal for Gray Stone (16-3-2) in the 34th minute.

Gray Stone broke a 1-all tie when a cross by Annie Habeeb was headed by Olivia Howard off an East Surry defender for an own goal.

Gray Stone keeper Katie Leckonby made several critical saves for the Knights, including one on a penalty kick in the final two minutes.

Wood bat leagues

Mooresville Spinners second baseman Ross Hoffner (Montreat, Davie) went 2-for-4 with three RBIs as the Spinners beat the High Point Locos, 12-0.
